Canonpoint: Beginning of Trespasser DLC
Personality:
Intelligent
Having shown great magical talent from a young age, Dorian is accustomed to excelling in magical endeavors and studies. His primary interest is research and magical theory, but he also displays a vast and varied knowledge of history and culture. He loves to challenge himself, selecting necromancy as his magical concentration because of its reputation as the most difficult discipline to learn. He and his mentor developed temporal magic, previously thought impossible. He enjoys discovering new things and constantly questions others about their knowledge and experiences in order to expand his own horizons.

Principled
As a self-proclaimed pariah, Dorian has a unique perspective on his society. He’s part of the Altus class, yet also an outcast in many respects, leading him to view it through a lens where the corruption, greed, and hypocrisy of his peers bothers him immensely. Dorian sacrifices a life of privilege to aid the Inquisition, and later to return to Tevinter to change his country for the better.

Caring
Dorian cares deeply for the people he allows close to him. He spends two years working tirelessly to develop a cure for Felix, despite the tensions between himself and Alexius, and has the capacity to become close friends with the Inquisitor and their companions (and even fall in love). Though he proclaims that he has few friends, he forms connections with others more easily than he thinks, and is kinder than he'd like to seem.

Defiant
Dorian has always had a rebellious streak. Despite his father’s wealth and influence, he was expelled from three different Circles of Magi, usually for fighting. He ran away from a far stricter institution, discovered weeks later drunk in a brothel. While he grew up wanting to please his father, when he realized that his father would accept nothing less than for him to live a lie, that changed. He doesn't bother to adhere to anyone’s expectations or the social rules of upper-class Tevinter society. He becomes defensive and obstinate when these choices are insulted, proud of his pariahhood.

Irreverent
Frequently Dorian can be outright rude and insulting, sometimes because he’s feeling petty and mean, and other times because he’s simply unaware that the subject he’s encroaching on is a sensitive one. He’s also unwittingly prejudiced, a product of his privileged upbringing, and often ends up being disrespectful because of it.

Temperamental
Dorian is an intensely emotional person, quick to anger, sadness, and pettiness. At his core he’s deeply vulnerable, seeking affection where he was denied by his family and the men he sleeps with. He knows he’s smart, a talented mage, and attractive, all traits which were worthy of praise in Tevinter. However, this confidence masks more deeply-seated insecurity. He seeks a deeper connection and a real relationship, but constantly denies himself out of fear. He’s also prone to overindulging in drinking and sex in order to distract from his problems, having a history of running away when things became too much for him to handle.

Powers/Abilities: Dorian is a mage, which means that he can do magic through a connection to Thedas’ mysterious magical dream realm, called the Fade. This enables him to summon and wield primal magic, i.e. elements such as fire, lightning, and ice, force magic (moving objects psychokinetically), and creation magic (healing, protective barriers, wards), among others detailed below. Healing magic is Dorian’s weakest suit by far, and he can do little beyond healing surface wounds such as cuts, abrasions, and bruises.

His specific magical specialization is necromancy, which comprises in-depth knowledge of both entropy and spirit magic, as well as more specialized skills, as it involves binding death-bound spirits to enable them to manifest physically to do his bidding, and possessing the bodies of the dead. Using Death Siphon, a passive spell, necromancers regain health and mana through drawing it from the dead. Other common spells in this tree are Horror, which strikes fear and dread into the hearts of enemies to panic them, and Walking Bomb, which inflicts a curse on a target to gradually weaken them (and, true to the name, cause an explosion if the target dies).

Through his extensive research and development work with his former mentor, Dorian helped to discover and refine time magic, which he has used to reverse-engineer timeline-shifting spells, i.e. sending himself and the Inquisitor a year back in time after his mentor sent them forward. More practically, however (and without the focus amulet he and his mentor created), he simply uses this knowledge to perform everyday spells such as Haste to temporarily give a speed advantage in battle.

Notable in addition to his magical skills is a more simple talent for quarterstaff combat; his staff isn't only for decoration or channeling spells. He's also very effective at knocking opponents over the head with it.

Suitability: Dorian has a complex relationship with sex and intimacy. As a gay man in a country and class where openly being with someone of the same sex is considered deviant, he became a social outcast and estranged from his family for refusing to live a lie and marry the woman his family picked for him. While he has always enjoyed sex, most of his experience has been anonymous (brothels, parties, etc.) or one night stands, especially during his rather promiscuous youth. He has a history of using sex to cope, using the praise he would receive for his appearance and skill to bolster his poor self-esteem. Until recently, he had never been in a real relationship, due to the constraints of Tevinter society. Over the last three years, however, his relationship with the Iron Bull has surpassed all of his expectations. They fulfill one another sexually and emotionally in a way Dorian had never expected he'd find. At heart, Dorian is a deeply monogamous individual with an almost possessive need to be everything his partner needs, and vice versa. He and Bull have happily carried on in this way for several years now. This compulsion is in large part born of his own insecurities, and what I'd like to explore in this game is how Dorian deals with that when sex with other people becomes inevitable, and he has to explore other ways to define and affirm his relationship. Honestly, I'd just really love for he and his partner to become That sex game power couple. Sharing is caring!

Kinks:
Dirty talk: With a creative mind and a sultry voice, one of Dorian's favorite bedroom tricks is whispering filthy what-ifs in his partner's ear. In the same vein, praising his skills and appearance extensively in the form of dirty talk is possibly the most fulfilling thing his partner can do for him. And on the flip side, he quite likes giving playful degradation or praise himself.
Marking/Possessive behavior: Dorian has fantasies referenced in canon of being overpowered, especially by big, burly men, which feeds into his need to be an object of desire. His covetous nature lends itself well to enjoying receiving longer-lasting marks in the form of bites and bruises, or even short-term marking like coming in or on him.
Orgasm control: Nothing gives Dorian a rush like being needed, and becoming the sole arbiter of his partner's pleasure, controlling when and how (and if) they receive it, is the ultimate expression of that. He'd likewise appreciate the same being done to him, but it's rare for him to find a partner who can actually make him submit.
